After living and experiencing the wreck of life, often times, it is hard for me to clear my head and realize that some good people still walk the face of the earth. In this particular case, I don't mean just good people, I mean an extremely unique person with a heart of gold. An individual who had his epiphany when he happened onto a missing child flyer at a grocery store. To me, the most powerful part of his journey is the fact that there is no turning back. He heeded to his calling despite all the roadblocks and challenges he faces.
My fascination with Mark Miller, Founder of the American Association for Lost Children started yesterday. Well, the usual. After burying my head into the computer and books to fulfill my daily dose of research work, I settled for baked fish and baked potatoes. Being the "intense" human being I am, I must multi-task, regardless. Rather than just sitting to eat, why don't I watch a movie and eat at the same time? I said shrugged. Whilst I do hate the process of searching for the right movie to watch on netflix, I noticed "suggestion for emotional drama" - Take From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story. Ever since I click, I'm hooked.
I watched the movie with full mental attention. As always, with movies based on real life experience (e.g., Conviction - the Betty Anne Walters Story); I go beyond the "end of movies credits" by researching and discovering the veracity of the story. Character by character, I'll search news, video clips, other documentaries, articles etc etc. Having discovered the most trivial things as in, Sean Baek, who played Jeff - Kobe's father, is a fellow alumni from York University; I settled for Mark Miller's AAFLC. Simple reason being, I care about children. To see someone make such sacrifices beyond the call to regular duty - blows my mind. What did I do then?
I emailed Mark Miller. And guess what, beyond the slightest thought of expectation, I got a reply from him, almost instantly. That made me even more humble, appreciative and honoured to be connected with such an amazing individual:
Dear Mr. Mark Miller:
I just had the opportunity to watch Taken from
me which eventually led me to "good search". I just wanted to pause and
say THANK-YOU for the work that you do. I read your story and I'm so
inspired and motivated knowing that there are visionaries like yourself
out there.
Thank you.
Warmest regards,
Veronica
Thank u So much Veronica. You are a Blessing. God Bless...
We have a goal of 5000 using the free search engine and registering for free AAFLC with goodsearch by end of Sept.
Would
it be okay if you added the above GoodSearch Toolbar for American
Association For Lost Children (AAFLC) as your search engine? Each time
you use AAFLC GoodSearch Toolbar to search the internet or shop online
at more than 2,000 stores, a donation is made to AAFLC - at no cost to
you! Our goal is 10,000 AAFLC GoodSearchers. Thank you too much - we are
counting on you! :)
Mark R. Miller
So what now? Well, "silver and gold have I none; but what I have, that give I thee". After realizing that that AAFLC needs only 5000 registration by the end of September, I decided to help advertise their work, which includes blogging this story and tweeting. Without a doubt, recommendation to see "Taken From Me", is no brainer, however watching the "Do Something Now" video clip above and registering with GoodSearch is my challenge to you. Go ahead, what are you waiting for?
THANK YOU MARK MILLER! YOU ARE MY HERO!
